A feasibility study based on good floor plans, at the touch of a button? It's possible!

The demand for housing is huge. Space in the cities is limited. The investment costs are high. Every square meter counts. It is therefore important to tackle projects quickly and efficiently, with well-founded decisions, so that feasibility is guaranteed from the start. To support the planning process, we introduce FastForward.

FastForward puts the computer to work

In this way we make feasibility studies short, efficient, flexible and accurate.

FastForward is an extremely practical application of the computing power that the computer offers. In no time, every possible composition of a residential program is tested within the boundaries of a zoning plan or urban volume. No opportunities are overlooked and the feasibility study produces a reliable result.

How does that work? #

The library of house types that FastForward draws from is very extensive and new house plans are added all the time from the projects we work on.
At the start of the study, the set of housing types is selected from which the models are built. This selection is made on the basis of choices for access types, house sizes, target groups, etc.

A model is made from building blocks

The models are built from building blocks with characteristic properties and data and are therefore not based on generic square meters within a building envelope.

The housing types are the building blocks with which the algorithm builds the models. The library of detailed house plans that is used has its origins in the study Goed Wonen in een Betaalbare Woning (Good Affordable Housing) and has since become very extensive and grows with every project we do. It is very easy to add preferred floor plans by the client as well.

Generative algorithm

FastForward is unique because it combines housing types with the access principle of a building (portico, gallery, corridor, etc.). Moreover, the models already take into account storage areas, parking spaces for cars and bicycles, installation areas and container areas. As a result, each model offers a realistic picture of the square meters at both residential and building level.

At the start of the study, the set of housing types is selected from which the models are built. This selection is made on the basis of choices for access types, house sizes, target groups, etc.

A well-considered choice

FastForward generates hundreds of variants that all fit within the predefined bandwidth. To make a well-considered choice, filters can be used that give more or less weight to certain aspects (FSI, form factor, numbers per type, etc). The result is a model (or several models) that meets the demand, in which it is guaranteed that good floor plans will fit and of which the data is transparent.

A counting model is not a design

The models generated by the computer can't be considerded to be designs. The models give a good impression of the number and type of houses that fit at a certain location, but only an architect can make the translation into a fully-fledged design. The counting models are mainly intended as an aid to determine the program at a location with all parties involved at an early stage.
